Yesterday was a sad day for me as the room attendant of our hostel expired from a road accident in front of the hostel. Usman was his name. He was nice fellow. He never argue, never said anything that could hurt others. Everyone he knows like him.
He was coming hostel from the petrol pump. At U turn near hostel, he get hit by a van. It was G.T. so the speed obviously was high. But what are excuses when the time has come. He was carried to hospital but couldn’t make it to operation room.
I, Nomi, Atif and Usmani attended the funeral held at his village. In spite of heavy rain and low public relations, there was a heavy crowd of people to attend the funeral. When we reached there, rain started pouring. When the body was being taken to Janaza gah, heavy rain started. It was my first experience in the rain to attend a funeral. The rain was increasing as the participants were. The Janaza gah was open air as are in villages. We prayed Namaz e Janaza there. My teeth were shattering and my whole body was trembling. And I was wondering how much lucky and blessed he was to have such a gathering in that circumstances.
We went to his house for condolence. The kids there were very happy to see that so many guest have come to their house but they didn’t understand what has happened. There was a huge collection of books there and all were Islamic books.
On my way back I was wondering that what if it was me. How we are busy in our lives that we forgot that we have to taste death. But these funerals remind us of death. May Allah give us courage and interest to prepare ourselves for the grand day before it’s too late.
